The Wonder Weeks App

The perfect compliment to the book is the Wonder Weeks app (costs $1.99 on Android). It doesn't give anywhere near as much information as the book but it's great because you always have it with you and it helps to remind you when the leaps are coming.

The home page explains the mental leap, skills that they'll develop and a few examples of activities to do with them.

Since you've put in your child's due date, the app maps your child's leaps to the actual calendar which is really helpful in looking forward and planning time away from home. In T's case, we knew all of the Christmas holidays would not be the best and so we were able to manage our expectations.

If you click on the #LEAP on the home page you're given a lot more detail in the Intro to the leap. The Skills section lists your baby's expanded skills in bullet form.

The Signs section outlines what to expect from your baby as well as how you may feel as a parent. The Help portion is actually an activity section with an expanded list of ways to interact with your baby.

I find the app is best used to compliment the book but if you don't have the time to invest in reading the book a chapter at a time, the app is a good icebreaker into the Wonder Weeks world!
