Curious George Birthday Party
We had a really fun time celebrating T's third birthday! The Curious George theme was one of the easiest birthdays we've put together to date - there are a lot of free or inexpensive resources out there.
Invitation:
Decorations:
I was happy to find a few decorations at the dollar store: a table cloth, Happy Birthday banner, and three hanging decorations. We had the food table covered in a yellow plastic tablecloth and a slideshow featuring T in the background.
My mom was also able to fix the stitching on this stuffed monkey. He really spruced up this table!
Food:
Lunch was really simple, hotdogs and sausages on a bun and platters of fruit and vegetables. We had a fun orange juice-pineapple punch that we referred to as "Monkey Juice."
The centerpiece of the party (for me) were these amazing cupcakes my friend baked for T. I loved putting it together on a silver cardboard baking tray with thin black washi tape and a printed George with two clouds to make it look like balloons are lifting him in to the sky. I'm super proud of how it turned out.
Activities:
Yellow Hat Ring Toss
I purchased yellow pylons, found a template to create the black stripe for the base of the cone and cut one out from black construction paper for each hat. We used diving rings we already had to toss.
Feed George Bananas
Andrew was able to find a picture of Curious George, blow it up, printed/taped it together and attached it to our bean bag toss. My mom made three banana bean bags out of yellow felt that were perfect for this game!
Tea Set & Stickers
T's favourite activity at his party was actually handing out a Curious George sticker to every single person at the party. The kids also played with a tin Curious George tea set and took turns hiding under big blankets.
Favours:
I purchased a Curious George book for each of T's friends from Scholastic (bonus of it being a fundraiser for his preschool) and printed out free thank you tags for each one.
The main monkey of our event!
