Valentine's Ideas

I guess I should preface this by saying that I have nothing against typical "romantic" ideas for Valentine's Day. In fact, that's all wonderful! But we like a balance of "recreational companionship" and romance.

1. Card / Board Games that work for 2

My favourites:
  • Ticket to Ride Nederland
  • Castles of Burgundy
  • Jaipur
  • Skip-Bo/Gin Rummy/Five Crowns

2. Puzzles
You could always choose a cutesy one for Valentine's Day!

3. Skating
Would be fun to bring some hot chocolate along :)

4. Adventure Rooms
This would be a fun time to try out an Adventure Room just the two of you or with another couple. They're basically giant puzzle rooms that you get locked into and have to figure your way out of. Find out if there's one near you!

5. Walk in the Snow / Snowball Fight
Sometimes getting outdoors and being kids again is just what we need. And it's always fun to roll around in the snow with your special person :P

6. Cross-country Skiing / Dogsledding / Snowshoeing
Try out something new, or try out a new venue if these are activities you do regularly. They're all super fun!

Of course many of these can be accompanied or followed by a cuddle by a fire or an indoor picnic. I like to just cook up a bunch of appetizers and not stress about reservations in a busy restaurant.

Try to avoid activities like going to a theatre to watch a movie since that involves sitting rather silently beside your partner instead of connecting in a more meaningful way.
