Kindergarten Number Learning

While E's done really well picking up 6 & 9 recognition since using October's free printables and that's been reassuring for my mom-worry.

We're moving on to composing and decomposing numbers up to 10. I'm looking to support E with some fun activities and just some basic exposure so that he can go into grade 1 French Immersion (math is in French) feeling confident about 0-10 in English.

Number Signs
I found FREE signs with numeral, ten frame and number word are up on our walls so E can see them regularly, reference them when he wants to draw the number or write the word. I put them low enough so he could also practice tracing the number to get a better sense of how to draw them.

A tip for hanging kid materials on your wall: use painter's tape. It holds up pretty well (especially on interior walls) and doesn't damage the wall underneath.
Ten Frame Fun!
We've start with a single ten frame and work on adding up to and subtracting from 0-10.

I liked having our ten frame set up by the number signs on our wall so he could reference them while writing the numbers during our activities.

Decomposing/Deconstructing Numbers Activities
A quick search on Pinterest brings up tons of options. Some are just worksheets and other options use manipulatives. I chose a few of each to mix it up and have him learn in different ways.

Dice Games and Activities
Here is a link to dice games. I purchased a ton of foam dice recently and so we've been able to play a bunch of fun games with them and they're not super noisy :)

Connect the Dots Book
E received this book as a party favour but you could easily find traditional-style connect the dots instead. My plan is to have this available in the car for longer rides to improve his number recognition from 10-30.
