2016 Advent Calendar December 1-8

Our Plan

Every day we're reading the corresponding Bible verse (free printables found here) and all proceeding verses & will do one of the following:
  • a small chocolate treat / candy
  • random act of kindness
  • Christmas related activity (will be majority)

Dec. 1 Small Treat

Introduction and explanation of the calendar to E. Read verse for Dec. 1 and had a small chocolate/coconut treat.

Dec. 2 Photo with Santa

Verses Dec. 1 & 2. Going forward won't mention the verses, though I'm really enjoying reading them first before moving on to our treat / activity and E is even starting to memorize them.
Photo with Santa (so glad there was no line).

Dec. 3 Letter to Santa & Hot Chocolate

E's first letter to Santa and taste of hot chocolate. He liked it!

Dec. 4 Poinsettias & Christmas Tree Farm

Picked up our poinsettias and explained to E how these became Christmas flowers.

Went to our local Christmas tree farm and cut down our tree! Had hot apple cider and watched the "tree wiggler" shake the excess needles off the tree.

Dec. 5 Sinterklaas and St. Nicholas' Day

Somewhat blurry video of exploring our boots in the morning :) Small toy cars for E and leg warmers for T.

Dec. 6 Tree Decorating and the STAR

We put the lights and decorations on the tree. E helped by putting on all the less-breakable ornaments on the tree. I sorted them into more and less breakable bins last year. So he was able to just take them out of the box and decorate independently which was great.

He was very excited to fly like an angel and put the star on top. We talked a bit about the reason for a star.

Dec. 7 Mini Skor Treat

Dec. 8 Christmas Dance Party

Run Run Reindeer was the best! And unfortunately we didn't start taping until after we had used a lot of our good moves and were getting tired... but here are a few clips of our frolicking.
