Olympic Activities 2022
The first Winter Olympics thing I want to do with T & E is to watch the video of drone footage over the Olympic locations and talk about different sports as well as to look at the geography of China.
1. 3 DinosaursThis website has 7 winter Olympic free printable packs!! I downloaded them all and only chose 15 activities to do with T & E. Many of their activities are well- better suited to kids who have developed reading skills, so late Kindergarten and Grade 1. A few math activities will work well for practice for E in grade 3, as well as a couple writing worksheets.
This is an amalgamation of many different sites organized by topic. Here is the tag Winter Olympics. Some of them are generic Winter Olympics and some will be current 2022, some for previous Olympics. I still use some of the older resources and just change them up as needed.
3. CBC
There is also lots of information to explore on CBC Kids Olympics including informational blog posts, "According to Kids" videos about the Olympics, information sorted by sport, games and more!
4. Bingo Olympic Activity freebie from KCEdventures. I like to do these with the kids leading up to and during the Olympics each time. A great mix of activities to learn about the host country as well as Olympic themed activities.
Oh! And one more. The medal count! From Create Craft Love, this printable also includes a US version. I'm going to search for gold, silver and bronze crayons so E can colour them in.
I think this is an awesome starting point for us but on the off-chance we get through the activities I have a few other free activities posted below:
I also want to ask you to take the time to sign the petition to raise awareness Uyghur muslims in China being incarcerated and otherwise facing extreme danger by the Chinese government. It can be hard to balance enjoying things like the Olympics that are meant to be a peacekeeping and unifying event with holding host countries and participating countries accountable for human rights abuses.
