Kid's Virtual Birthday Party

I came across this Indigo post about a virtual birthday party which was pretty straightforward and a great jumping off point.

Invitation:

Decorations:
Unsurprisingly there were none!! Though you could put up a banner behind the birthday kid so it would show on the video call.

Food:
The only food were cupcakes that we had made to E's specifications by a friend who's an amazing baker. He wanted pink and sparkly.

Activities:
We had an online call and while we waited for everyone to figure out Google Meets (while not being signed in to a school account) we had the kids share something fun they had done in the previous few weeks and just chat to one another.

Once everyone was on the call we opened our loot bags (see below) and took out the bracelet to wear and what we needed to play Bingo.

We played Bingo using these great free printable bingo cards. This download comes with 10 individual cards and a call card. So we could play at least twice, instead of using a dabber or pen to cross off the squares we gave each child a pack of smarties to use as markers. I got on a separate device (in a different room) and did the calling for the BINGO game.

Then we all sang happy birthday and ate our cupcakes together! At that point, we'd been just a bit longer than the 30 minutes we'd planned on and so some of the kids left while the rest stayed and chatted for a bit.

You could easily make the party longer with a number of other activities if you wished:
Drawing Challenge - give kids a paper pad/pencil and then give them one minute to draw something you tell them, then they can show everyone
Around the House Scavenger Hunt - search for items or different colours and award a point for first person back to the video call with the matching item
Minute to Win-it games

Favours:
So along with Smarties and their Bingo card, we purchased reversible sequin snap bracelets (which were right up E's alley) as well as Crayola Globbles which are really cool sticky/squishy reusable balls. I also put in some panda-donut notepads that I'd originally purchased for my niece's birthday but subsequently forgot to bring to said birthday party!

Delivery Day:
We had a great time delivering the party packs a few days before the party (so people could leave them isolated for a bit, as was their wish). It was really nice to see everyone in person briefly and get to wave and chat from a distance.
