Week 8: Have we accepted our fate?

Andrew mentioned feeling like he's gotten in to a good groove now with work and feeding our family (he does much of the cooking) and having some down time. This past week, I was feeling more anxious to be getting out and about but did not go anywhere.

As announcements were being made by governments to begin opening provinces back up, I was feeling more like I was mentally pacing back and forth, feeling a bit more trapped than usual - at the prospect of being allowed to get back out there. Mostly because it's seemingly hard to feel confident right now about how to proceed from here. So both really wanting to get back in to the world, and feeling paralyzed as to how to do that safely.

That being said, this week was for the first time in a while, a BORING week!

Sunday May 3rd
After a cozy comfort day the day before, the boys were raring to get out on their bikes! A bit of a crash and Andrew ended up biking both boys and a spare bike back in the bucket bike home :) I took it pretty easy as I started up with a bit of cold/allergies (sore throat and congestion only).

They boys also did some outdoor repairs to the basement stone steps and grass stop and Andrew made homemade burgers on ciabatta buns for dinner (with pesto) and they were delicious!

Monday May 4th
Still taking it easy myself and had a long afternoon nap. The boys did a lot of independent playing, some tablet time together, played Spies (with sunglasses and flashlights) for a quite a while too. Halfway through the day E remembered he'd put out a tooth for the Tooth Fairy, and went running up to find what they'd left! We also had a Star Wars dance video to celebrate May the Fourth.

Tuesday May 5th
Everett quite enjoyed his math lesson in fractions as he was happy to play with some playdough - I even let him combine colours!!

More independent play in their restaurant/kitchen, cooking and serving each other and E worked on some Lego challenges too! We also started our local library's May BINGO activity sheet and are checking items off!

Wednesday May 6th
Today was the first day since the blasted Yoga incident that I really felt up to getting out for some exercise. The boys and I spent about an hour out walking around our neighbourhood with our dog Banner.

We stopped for quite a while and watched some construction vehicles. Always a good past time with young kids.

During his quiet time E made a poster and did some art to send to his English teacher who had some major health issue that sent her to the hospital the week before :(

E also had his final Kindermusik class for this session and had an "in-class" graduation where we played some songs together and he had a solo which he chose to learn/play on the piano, instead of the glockenspiel he'd been playing in class.

Thursday May 7th
I really enjoyed the craft time spent stamping with the boys. Even though stamping with multiple children means I can't control the fact that the colours get mixed together! E's French teacher had a few finger stamp animal/spring word activities this week and he really enjoyed them.

Friday May 8th
The boys went on a worm hunt!! They actually found four, which was more than I was expecting. We had a good conversation about how long they could live in the dirt in our container before we needed to put them back in the garden. To warm up after such a big expedition we had tea and biscuits.

I wanted to share this activity from our school board's activity list (which they seem to still be adding to regularly). This was E's first foray into writing poetry and it went quite well and tied in with learning about adjectives.

Saturday May 9th
And in the fashion of a boring (yay!) week, we spent all of Saturday putting away Easter decor and cleaning our house. Andrew and I then pulled out some Nintendo Super Mario in the evening once the kids were in bed!
