Day Camp Review - Maker Fun Factory
In July E attended the Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible School that was hosted by our church. The camp ran for one week from 9am-12pm for kids aged 3 to grade 5. The cost was [an extremely reasonable] $5/week with an optional purchase of a $5 cd of the songs.
Each day the ~100 kids gathered to start their day singing and dancing to some really fun songs! Listen here or watch videos here. Then each age group would split off to do each of the different activities: crafts, sports, story time, theme video. They would meet up part way through the morning for snack on the grass outside the church and then again at the end of their time together to re-cap the day and sing a few more songs.
At 11:30am on Friday the families of campers were invited to attend a performance of some songs and to join in a pizza lunch (no extra cost).
E was a part of the Bubba group. And on Wednesday Bubba was highlighted. The kids learned that humpback whales gather food by making bubble nets using air. You can't see air, but it's all around you. Just like God.
I'm always amazed at what young kids are capable of. E came home exhausted, talking about the parachute games, the man who told the story, showing me his craft and loudly singing the songs. Weeks later he is still talking about the Maker Fun Factory and all he did and the people who made it possible. Thanks to the many staff/volunteers who pulled off an incredible camp!!
