Mario Kart Birthday Party

Our oldest turned 10 and decided on another at home birthday party. We'll see if that continues or if we move the direction of activities outside of the house in the future. After much discussion he landed on a MarioKart theme.

Invitation:

We actually were able to hold his party on a PD DAY, which was actually great timing.

Decorations:
I had a really fun time with the decorations. Racing banner with simple printed out MarioKart images on cardstock. Two really cute table cloths, one a simple road, the other Rainbow Road.

Food:
I told myself to keep the food simple and just get pizza but then I saw all the cute ideas on Pinterest.

We got an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins with simple blue frosting and I added the Rainbow Road, karts and flags myself.

Activities:
We started the party outside on a really hot day. We did scooter and PlasmaCar races and put on temporary tattoos.

The headed inside to play with a used MarioKart Hot Wheels track we found on Kijiji that ended up being a part of his birthday gift. It was really fun to have them race each other.

For the kids who were less interested in the racing track, we had Mario Uno for them to play.

While the kids took turns playing a round robin style MarioKart Wii Competition, those waiting were able to work on Perler Bead Creations. I found these really cute free MarioKart patterns.

Favours:
The kids brought home their Perler bead creations and a MarioKart hot wheel that they'd played with on the track.
